Detour
"Detour" is bodw’s outreach programme. Its primary aim is to highlight Hong Kong design for the world at large. Running from December 9th to December 16th, Detour will serve as a vital platform engaging and introducing to bodw participants and the general public the sheer variety of design that is present in Hong Kong. Similarly, this programme also underscores the vibrancy of our city and culture. This year’s Detour will consist of two programmes:

Detour DesignMap
Hong Kong boosts a continuous stream of design events throughout the year and this DesignMap, produced exclusively for bodw 2007, is our top choices of the many events around Hong Kong during Business of Design Week. Events range from architectural tours of the city, product and book launches, exhibitions, showcases, cocktail receptions, parties, and promotional activities in retail and food and beverage outlets around the city.

Detour Architecture Tour by Tram
Since 1904, the tram has tirelessly serviced districts of Hong Kong Island and bore witness to the endless changes of Hong Kong's architecture. This Architecture Tour by Tram, lead by architectural experts from the Hong Kong Architecture Centre, will offer a new way of experiencing this well travelled route between Kennedy Town and Happy Valley. Participants will learn to read the city though examining architectural evidence, old and new, within their historical context and will be amazed at the fascinating stories behind everyday streetscapes. It will be a fun-filled 'electric' journey of discovery!
